Network Engineer II

Summary / Objective

StrataDefense has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer II to join our technical support team. This is a level II position that requires the ability to operate independently and responsibly. 

Job Duties

  • Answer incoming support phone calls and triage new support tickets
  • Complete project work as assigned
  • Report time accurately and completely     
  • Operate under the leadership of the team lead or supervisor
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Perform complex software and hardware installation and configuration
  • Resolve complex application, workstation, and server tickets
  • Contribute to team project planning
  • Identify and fill gaps in the team knowledge base
  • Identify and contribute process improvement ideas
  • Design and implement automated methods of completing tasks

Competencies

As a Network Engineer II, engineers are expected to have a broad functional knowledge in these areas to support setup, configuration and troubleshooting:

  1. Windows operating systems and their related applications
  2. MacOS and their related applications
  3. Cloud technologies such as Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure, AWS
  4. Workstations
  5. Local & network printers and scanners
  6. Mobile devices (tablets, mobile phones) of major operating systems (iOS, Android)
  7. Networking and network devices
  8. Microsoft Exchange
  9. Microsoft Active Directory
  10. Security applications, including anti-virus, web filtering, SIEM, etc.

Supervisory Responsibility

None required for this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This position requires occasional lifting or moving of equipment up to 50 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position requires working some evenings and weekends as needed.

Required Education and Experience

Associates Degree in Networking or Computer Support and at least 1 year of job experience in a similar role

OR

3 years on-the-job experience in a similar role.
